About our Products

What is handmade soap?
Soap is soap, we've all used it a million times right? Wrong! All soap is made by combining a fat with sodium hydroxide (lye). During the saponification (chemical reaction) process, the fat turns into soap and glycerin. The lye is transformed so there is none left in the soap.  Most commercially made soap has the glycerin extracted and sold for use in other, more profitable, industries. Leaving you with a bar of soap with the moisturizing glycerin removed. That is why it can leave your skin feeling dry and tight. Commercially made soaps may also contain tallow (animal fat) which can clog pores and irritate eczema, and harsh chemicals (petroleum products, synthetic detergents, or preservatives) which can be very irritating to the skin.  Some "soaps" aren't even soap at all, but simply bars of synthetic detergent. Our cold processed soaps have all that moisturizing glycerin still in them.  They are made with the highest quality oils, like Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Organic Sustainable Palm Oil, Castor Oil, Unrefined Shea Butter, Avocado Oil, and Cocoa Butter, and they won't leave your skin feeling dry and itchy. And we  never use any lard or tallow in our soaps - they are all cruelty free!

We do have soaps containing Goat Milk. The amino acids, vitamins and minerals in goat milk are easily absorbed, to nourish and moisturize the skin. A great choice for those with sensitive skin. Our Goat Milk is farm fresh, from a local family farm.

Our soaps are scented with either all natural essential oils or body safe fragrance oils. Our essential oil soaps may be colored with mineral pigments. Our fragrance oil soaps are colored with mineral pigments, micas, or body safe FD & C Colorants, like those used in food. We also sometimes add natural botanicals to our soaps, such as dried tea leaves, herbs, seeds, or dried citrus peel.

All our soaps weigh approximately 4 - 4.5 oz each.

Are our handmade soaps Gluten Free?
Yes, with the exception of our beer soaps and soaps containing oatmeal. Only our Oatmeal, Milk & Honey, and Unscented with Oatmeal soaps contain oatmeal.

All Natural Soy Candles
Ah, candles. Everyone loves them; you can seemingly find them at every store. What makes our candles so special? First let's take a look at "traditional" candles. Most candles are made with paraffin wax, a petroleum product, which can contribute to indoor air pollution. When burned paraffin candles release toxins such as benzene, toluene, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, acrolein and soot into the air! Gel candles are also petroleum based. Even many candles that claim to be soy candles are actually soy blends. They can contain as little as 25% soy wax and have the rest be petroleum based, and still be called soy candles. Soy wax is made from soybeans. It burns cleaner, lasts longer (up to three times longer), holds more fragrance, and supports American farmers. Soy candles are eco-friendly because they are renewable and they don't emit any toxic fumes into your home.

Soy candle burning tips:
Maximum recommended burn time is 4 hours per burn. Burning longer may create an unusually deep melting pool and fatigue the glass container. Trim wick to 1/4 inch before burning. Keep the candle free of wick trimmings or other debris. Burn in an area free from drafts. If you spill, soy wax cleans up with soap and water. Dispose of wax in a garbage can, never down the drain!
